Heroic Dog Leads State Trooper To A Burning Home In The Middle Of Nowhere

May 11, 2015 By Christi Mulligan
In 2010, Ben Heinrichs and his adopted German shepherd, Buddy, were outside their Caswell Lakes region home in Alaska when a fire ignited. Neighbors had reported the incident and the police had been dispatched to the area. As Trooper Shanigan was attempting to reach the residence, his GPS stopped working and he was left with 93 miles of back roads and an unknown location. Shanigan was driving slowly as the head office was attempting to relay him directions to the site when he caught sight of a shadowy figure. Buddy had come looking for help, and he took charge in that moment and led Shanigan exactly where he needed to be.
