Meet The Man Who Mountain Bikes With One Arm

May 21, 2015 By Christi Mulligan
In the first of a series of videos created by Tom Wheeler, he shares the story of Thomas Bannister. Bannister was in a serious crash eight years ago that left him with a paralyzed left arm, but that did not stop him from riding mountain bikes again. After a visit from Wheeler, who had also suffered a BPI (brachial plexus injury) during a bike race in 2011 that left his right arm paralyzed, Bannister decided he would get back on the bike.

Wheeler created a corporation, Notbroken, that creates the only assistive riding brace for those with paralyzed limbs. His series of short films feature the United Kingdom's adaptive athletes and their stories of triumph.
