Joe Fraley sings to his mom a special song he wrote, just days before she was placed in a home due to Alzheimer's disease. At first, he was apprehensive about posting the video because it was so personal and showed his mom in what he says was her "worst."

However, he said if his video can bring more awareness to this devastating disease, then he is willing to let us share in this bittersweet moment. Joe says his mom was a college professor and after she lost her job she was afraid people thought she was stupid."She was the smartest, nicest and most caring person I ever met."

Alzheimer's disease accounts for 60 to 80 percent of dementia cases and is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. A progressive disease, symptoms worsen over time. Patients live an average of eight years after their symptoms become noticeable to others. Currently, there is no cure.
