Tesla Tries To Reduce Our Use Of Fossil Fuels With A New Source Of Electricity

May 5, 2015 By Christi Mulligan
The world currently uses about 20 trillion kWh of energy each year. Fortunately, Tesla has a possible solution. Tesla Motors unveiled a new division, Tesla Energy, along with the energy-problem-solving Powerwall. Of all the fossil fuels that are used in the United States, one-third is used for transportation (one area they are already heavily involved in) and another third is used to produce electricity.

In the U.S. alone, the carbon dioxide emissions from electricity production would require 1.6 billion acres of forest to counteract the negative impact. Tesla has begun to ponder if the necessary energy can be produced by renewable resources that are not as environmentally damaging, and the answer they've come up with is the Powerwall. The Powerwall is one of several suites of batteries that have been created for homes, businesses and utility companies that would promote cleaner energy, and would help to wean the world from the dependency on fossil fuels.
