Single transferable vote (or STV) is a system that was created to eliminate, or at least minimize, disproportionate representation of voting districts. The system allows for an area to be more accurately represented based on its population. While some argue that the mechanics of STV are difficult to grasp, the process itself is much less taxing on voters.
