This Is How The Earth Ended Up Covered In Water

Mar 26, 2015
Just over two-thirds of the Earth's surface is covered in water and, yet, the rest of the solar system has none. Zachary Metz has created a new TED-Ed video that explores not only why Earth is different and where the water came from but also when it arrived.

TED-Ed is an extension of TED Talks, which has become known for virally popular videos on the web. TED-Ed's purpose is to create and share "Lessons Worth Sharing." Within their extensive library, there are educational videos that "represent collaborations between talented educators and animators nominated through the TED-Ed platform." TED believes that ideas change lives and therefore can even change the world. It is with this concept in mind that all TED products are created.

This video was animated by The Moving Company, which is a studio located in Jerusalem that specializes in animated shorts.
