Volvo Has Developed A New Product To Help Bicyclists Stay Safe On The Roads

Apr 3, 2015
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, since 2003, there have been over four thousand pedestrian and cyclist fatalities each year in the U.S. In the U.K. that number is well over 19,000 accidents each year, for cyclists alone. Statistics also show that in 2012, 70 percent of those fatalities occurred at nighttime. For many, this comes as no surprise, since almost everyone who drives a car understands how difficult it can be to see cyclists on the side of the road.

In an attempt to improve the data on these accidents, Volvo Cars has introduced a new product that could save lives. Life Paint is a spray-on paint that is invisible in daylight but luminescent when crossed by car headlights. Their motto is, "The best way to survive a crash is not to crash," which couldn't be more true.
